LAMDA examinations
LAMDA exams are drama and performance based and offer students the opportunity to develop their skills in drama whilst gaining impressive qualifications. The performance examinations use drama to develop self-confidence, physical presence and a strong speaking voice. All LAMDA examinations are rooted in encouraging Learners of all ages to develop a love of literature, poetry and drama and thus improve standards of communication through the spoken word.
This term we are offering both ACTING and MUSICAL THEATRE as part of our exam term. Students will be entered into their examination where they will be expected to perform scenes/ songs from memory in front of an examiner. During their exam they will need to display an understanding of the style, form, character and context of the piece, as well as demonstrating their technical skills of voice, diction and movement. All exams will be graded with a Pass, Merit or Distinction; however, the examiner does have the right to Fail any student who does not meet the required standard.
Our LAMDA examination sessions will provide all the knowledge, repertoire and preparation needed to take an exam. We will work closely with each student in order to choose the most appropriate scenes, understand the context and language of the piece and develop their skills and performances. Students will be expected to learn lines and practise during their own time as well as in these sessions; we will be providing individual feedback and practise notes to take away for students’ own preparation and practise time.
These sessions are designed to enable all students to get the most from their exam; however, we always maintain a friendly, encouraging and confidence boosting atmosphere. Exams should be something to get excited about!
